Chocolate and Berry Granola
Have you ever made granola at home friends? It really is so easy, once you start it is hard to stop.
Most importantly it is much cheaper, you have complete control over the ingredients. Not a fan of too sweet, hey tone it down, love a particular fruit, go to town with that. You get the idea.
The permutations and combinations are endless. Select your choice of dry fruits, sweetener, fat, nuts, in a nutshell it can be your own personal Granola.
Since I started making granola at home, I am keeping them in ziplock bags. It is so convenient to carry them in your handbag. Before reaching for that bag of chips, grab the granola.
I would love to hear from you. Do you have any special tips that you want to share with me?
Oats 2 cups
Walnuts, melon seeds 1/2 cup
nutmeg . powder 1/2 tsp
Coconut slivers 1/2 cup
Salt small pinch
Goji berries, dried apricots, chopped 2 Tbsp
Chocolate chips 1/4 cup
Maple syrup 11/2 Tbsp
Coconut oil 11/2 Tbsp
Vanilla extract 1/4 tsp
Preheat oven to 300 degree F
Save the dry fruits, in this case the Goji berries and Dried apricots in a bowl. Mix the wet and dry ingredients. Pour them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Bake for 35 minutes. Add the dry fruits and let it cool completely before you store them in airtight containers.
You have the choice to substitute each ingredient. For example, I have used coconut oil. Butter or canola oil can be used. Same with sweetener, choice of nuts, berries and other ingredients.
